Adams Central’s season opener looked like it was going to get the Jets off on the right foot Monday night, but after scoring five runs in the top of the seventh, the Jets came out in the bottom of the final inning and subsequently conceded seven runs for a 13-12 loss at Shenandoah. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Jets had a 2-0 lead after their half of the third inning and had a good outing from Addelyne Jordan on the books, as she retired six of the first seven batters she faced to start the contest. The bottom of the third, however, spelled trouble and Shenandoah put the first three batters on base. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jordan left the game with the lead in hand, but Shenandoah continued to pound relief pitcher Adeline Isch, who went the rest of the way, giving up ten earned runs in 4.1 innings pitched. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Jets captured the lead back in the top of the fifth, scoring four times to take a 7-5 lead, with the big hit in the inning coming from Baylee Smith with her first home run of the season. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The visitors added five more insurance runs in the top of the seventh and led 12-6, needing just three outs, but the Raiders knocked in seven runs with five different RBI hits (while making just one out) for the 13-12 victory. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Jets got four total hits from Smith, including two doubles to go along with her home run for a nine-base night. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jocelyn Rodeffer scored three runs and had two hits, both doubles, in the #3 spot in the lineup. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
