{"id":35482,"date":"2026-04-03T12:26:04","date_gmt":"2026-04-03T16:26:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wzbd.com\/?p=35482"},"modified":"2026-04-03T12:26:06","modified_gmt":"2026-04-03T16:26:06","slug":"safe-child-activities-set-for-april-8th-18th","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wzbd.com\/index.php\/2026\/04\/03\/safe-child-activities-set-for-april-8th-18th\/","title":{"rendered":"SAFE child activities set for April 8th &amp; 18th"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>By BOB SHRALUKA<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>WZBD.com<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pinwheels were back at Decatur City Council on March 17 as the local SAFE (Supporting all Families Everyday) organization unveiled its plans for April, which is Child Abuse Prevention Month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>SAFE rep Cindy Thieme was on hand to perform an annual ritual, passing out pinwheels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pinwheels are used as the national symbol for child abuse prevention to represent the happy, healthy, and carefree childhood that every child deserves, according to SAFE.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"640\" height=\"378\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/Pinwheels-kids.jpg?resize=640%2C378&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-35483\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/Pinwheels-kids.jpg?w=973&amp;ssl=1 973w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/Pinwheels-kids.jpg?resize=300%2C177&amp;ssl=1 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/Pinwheels-kids.jpg?resize=768%2C454&amp;ssl=1 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Thieme told council that the local SAFE&#8217;s 11<sup>th<\/sup>&nbsp;annual carnival is shifting locations this year. It will be held on Saturday, April 18, from 1-3 p.m. on the 4-H fairgrounds in Monroe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The carnival is free to all and will include crafts, corn hole, a cookie walk, ring and bean bag toss, bowling, golf, basketball toss, snacks and more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe want to make it a fun time for families,\u201d Thieme said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Those planning to participate are urged to bring a new book for Kate&#8217;s Cart.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>SAFE&#8217;s annual Celebration of Youth will take place at the Adams County Courthouse at noon at Wednesday, April 8.
