(Decatur PD photo)<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The class, headed by instructor Bryan Lineberry, came up with the idea of the fundraiser and carried it through to a highly successful conclusion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A total of 350 of the plushy Kodas \u2013 each wearing by a police department wrap \u2013 were ordered and sold in two phases. Donations of $20 or more were accepted for the dogs, with 100% of the money raised going into the police department fund that supports Koda \u2013 a fund that relies solely on donations..<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In their meeting, the police department said, each student got up and explained their role in the project, along with areas of the project that struggled and areas that exceeded expectations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The project raised nearly $2,300.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Earlier, the students and police officers handed out some 143 of the plushies to residents of the Health Center and the Memory Care Center at Woodcrest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Adams Memorial Hospital, Hoosier Pattern and the Porter Family Foundation (Formula boats) sponsored the presentation of the small Kodas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After the debrief meeting, the police department said, each student and Bryan Lineberry were presented a department challenge coin as well as a certificate of appreciation in recognition of their dedicated hard work towards the project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"640\" height=\"616\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/Koda-coin-given-out.jpg?resize=640%2C616&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-35348\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/Koda-coin-given-out.jpg?resize=1024%2C985&amp;ssl=1 1024w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/Koda-coin-given-out.jpg?resize=300%2C289&amp;ssl=1 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/Koda-coin-given-out.jpg?resize=768%2C739&amp;ssl=1 768w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/Koda-coin-given-out.jpg?w=1282&amp;ssl=1 1282w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><em>SRO Andrew Elwell hands a Decatur Police Department challenge coin to a student as Chief Kevin Gerber and K9 officer Koda look on.
