Union&#8217;s bill came to $16,488.09. All contracts were approved by Decatur&#8217;s board of works and safety at its latest meeting..<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Washington Township earlier paid its bill of $29,875.60.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"640\" height=\"639\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/Decatur-firefighter.jpg?resize=640%2C639&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-34422\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/Decatur-firefighter.jpg?w=926&amp;ssl=1 926w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/Decatur-firefighter.jpg?resize=150%2C150&amp;ssl=1 150w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/Decatur-firefighter.jpg?resize=300%2C300&amp;ssl=1 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/Decatur-firefighter.jpg?resize=768%2C766&amp;ssl=1 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>For the first time since the 1970s, the City of Decatur increased its fees for fire protection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Up until this year, what the four townships had been paying amounted to 6% of the fire department&#8217;s annual budget.
