The DeKalb Barons took care of business and clinched a tie for second place in the NE8 regular season standings with a 54-40 victory over the Bellmont Braves Friday night. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The game got away from the Braves early, as they fell behind 22-5 after just eight minutes of play. They simply could not stop Zeke Penrod, who went on to score 28 to lead all scorers. Penrod nailed two threes in that opening quarter and had 16 points himself. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

DeKalb led 33-15 at halftime, keeping Daniel Selking and Cameron Summers in check. The duo had nine points at half. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The loss for Bellmont put the Braves at 0-7 to round out the conference slate. Norwell’s one-point victory over Huntington North prevented the Vikings from claiming a share of the conference title, which instead went to New Haven with their 6-1 mark. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
