With 4:13 to go in the game, Reber got fouled on a drive and hit his first free throw to reach his milestone of 1,000 career points. Officials stopped the game briefly for fans to honor the four-year varsity star. At the 3:42 mark he corralled his own three-point miss and put it in to make it 59-51. On Bluffton\u2019s next possession he converted an old-fashioned three-point play to put the Tigers up by double digits for the first time at 63-51.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Jets never closed to within less than 10 the rest of the way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Still, Coach Adams was pleased with his team\u2019s effort against the highly regarded Tigers. \u201cI was proud of our guys,\u201d he said. \u201cWe made many improvements in a lot of categories tonight, and it&#8217;s definitely in the right direction. You know, we&#8217;re in a tough slump right here and we tell them it&#8217;s the hardest thing to come out of in whatever sport you&#8217;re playing, you know. Bluffton is a very strong, well-coached team, and they executed and did a lot of good things on both sides of the floor. (Photo by Randy Hisner)<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Mavrick Becher hit a pair of threes early in the second quarter for the Jets, but the Tigers still managed to hold 28-26 lead until, with 3:03 left, Andy Geels launched a three ball from the left corner to put the Jets up, 29-28. Unfortunately for the Jets, Grieser scored consecutive baskets on a put back and a nifty 10-foot bank shot to give the Tigers a three-point lead. Then with one second left, Bluffton sophomore Gibson Grieser sank a three-pointer from the top of the key to make it 35-29 at the half.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Jets hung tough in the third quarter, closing to within two at 41-39 with 4:01 left when Lawson Deathe made two consecutive three-pointers in 35 seconds, exciting the home crowd. (Photo by Randy Hisner)<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>But as happened several times in the game, Declan Griser put the brakes on the Jets\u2019 momentum by taking charge offensively, with back-to-back baskets on a jump hook and fast break layup. Though Reber responded with two free throws, the Tigers scored four of the last five points in the quarter and took a 49-42 lead into the final frame.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Coach Adams was happy about Reber\u2019s 1,000-point achievement. \u201cI am super proud of Braylend,\u201d he said. \u201cYou know, that&#8217;s not easy to do, no matter what size school you are, who you&#8217;re playing, where you&#8217;re playing.
