{"id":32547,"date":"2026-01-20T22:30:00","date_gmt":"2026-01-21T03:30:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wzbd.com\/?p=32547"},"modified":"2026-01-22T16:14:35","modified_gmt":"2026-01-22T21:14:35","slug":"freshmen-save-the-day-on-bellmont-senior-night","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wzbd.com\/index.php\/2026\/01\/20\/freshmen-save-the-day-on-bellmont-senior-night\/","title":{"rendered":"Freshmen save the day on Bellmont Senior Night"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Two clutch victories by a pair of ninth graders were the perfect gift for four Bellmont seniors in the lineup, helping the Braves maintain their recent superiority over the Carroll Chargers with a 39-31 victory on Senior Night. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Oliver Faurote&#8217;s 26-second fall at 120 put the Braves in position to win and the come-from-behind masterclass of Charlie Faurote clinched the victory, with Chuck scoring the fall 30 seconds into the third period, sending the Bellmont bench and the fans into a frenzy. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-audio\"><audio controls src=\"https:\/\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/20janBell39Carroll31Wrap.mp3\"><\/audio><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><em>Rex Brewer and August Fuelling wrap up the victory for the Braves on Senior Night. <\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Seniors Xavior Palacios and Grady Baker put together important victories in the early stages, with Palacios scoring a fall and Baker beating highly-ranked Bradyn Lothamer for the second straight year. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Baker was 1-1 with Lothamer in the third, pushing for the opening takedown. He was given the lead with a second stalling warning, one which would have held up, but Baker scored a late takedown just to make sure, pumping his fists to get the crowd excited. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-audio\"><audio controls src=\"https:\/\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/20janEndOfGBakerWin.mp3\"><\/audio><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><em>Grady Baker earns the victory over a tough opponent at 285. <\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Oliver Faurote&#8217;s win was so meaningful because the two Carroll lightweights before him wrestled to their reputation, dominating on their feet and pushing the visitors&#8217; lead to 20-9. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ben Mills backed up Faurote&#8217;s win with a victory at 126, setting up the remaining Braves&#8217; middleweights for success. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-audio\"><audio controls src=\"https:\/\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/20janCFauroteInterv.mp3\"><\/audio><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><em>Charlie Faurote sits down with Rex Brewer to discuss a wild match at 157. <\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The home team then set up Charlie Faurote to be the hero, with brother Henry Faurote, Gabe Myers and Sam Wolpert all lighting up the scoreboard for a trifecta of tech falls. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-audio\"><audio controls src=\"https:\/\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/20janCFauroteHighlights.mp3\"><\/audio><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><em>Highlights from Charlie Faurote&#8217;s win on our broadcast. <\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Chuck was thrown to his back and trailed 7-0 in the first period, needing to bridge just to last into the second period. The frosh bounced back and found two takedowns and eventually knotted the match at 9-9.
