Adams Superior Court Judge Sam Conrad recently filed for re-election with the Indiana Election Division in Indianapolis.\u00a0 In his first term in office, Judge Conrad has spearheaded efforts to improve the system of justice in Adams County.\u00a0 He’s embraced the county’s Webex telecommunications platform which allows litigants in Superior Court to appear remotely for most hearings; reducing transportation costs and speeding up the time to case disposition.\u00a0 He livestreams most hearings online (https:\/\/public.courts.in.gov\/incs#\/<\/a>) to improve public access to the court system.\u00a0 He was instrumental in the BMV’s installation of a kiosk at the Berne Community Market to make it easier for residents to update and conveniently access their driving documents.\u00a0 He has improved the presentation of evidence in court by installing a Case Center digital evidence portal and a digital overhead projector (grant funded).\u00a0 He has improved access to justice for Adams County residents by forging relationships with the Volunteer Lawyer Program and Indianapolis Legal Aid Society so pro bono organizations are aware of the need for pro bono legal services in Adams County.\u00a0 Judge Conrad also convened a sequential intercept model mapping meeting with justice system stakeholders that led to increased public transportation and a jail reentry program that directly reduces the likelihood defendants will reoffend.\u00a0 He also applied for and obtained a state grant to fund court security improvements to better protect the safety of those utilizing our local justice system.\u00a0 Finally, Judge Conrad created Resilience Court, an evidence-based problem-solving court focused on connecting high-risk and high-need criminal defendants with supportive resources in our county that improve their resilience to life’s struggles; thereby reducing the likelihood they will reoffend.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Prior to taking the bench, Judge Conrad served in the U.S. Army JAG Corps where he represented the United States Government, criminal defendants, and the interests of crime victims during various assignments in Korea, Germany, and Oklahoma.  Prior to law school, Judge Conrad worked in the President George W.
