If successful, the project led by the City of Decatur will receive a matching grant as part of the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority\u2019s (IHCDA) CreatINg Places program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;The addition of a dog park and a revitalized softball field will increase access to recreation, promote healthy lifestyles and improve the overall quality of life in Decatur,&#8221; said\u00a0Lt. These improvements will increase opportunities for the community to enjoy the outdoor space.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;I am thrilled to have the assistance of the IHCDA with our crowdfunding campaign for the Kekionga Project,&#8221; said Decatur Mayor Dan Rickford. &#8220;This transformative project has amenities for people of all ages. Whether you are looking for an adult softball league to join, a safe place to let your dog run, or a beautiful lake to take your children fishing, Kekionga Park will be the place to go.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Since the CreatINg Places program began in 2016, projects have raised more than $7.8 million in public funds and an additional $6.6 million in matching IHCDA funds. The program is available to projects located in Indiana communities. Non-profit entities (with 501c3 or 501c4 status) and local units of government are eligible to apply. Eligible projects must have a minimum total development cost of $10,000, where the recipient will receive $5,000 in IHCDA matching funds should it successfully raise $5,000 through Patronicity.
