It was an eighth straight victory for Northfield Tuesday as they sent South Adams to their fifth straight defeat in girls basketball, winning 49-23. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“We haven’t seen size like that all season.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now 12-3 on the year, Northfield were coming off a week of rest after winning the Wabash County tournament. The height of the Norsemen was simply too much for coach Freeman’s Starfires to overcome. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Their size created a lot of problems for us tonight,” noted Freeman in his postgame comments. “We really struggled to get quality looks.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Stars were outplayed in each quarter, never mustering more than eight points, as they were consistently beaten by Northfield. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Their perimeter players do a nice job giving some pressure and funneling guards into their bigs,” said Freeman. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Despite the loss, Freeman showed respect to a quality opponent and looked forward in the schedule. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“We’re still seeing improvement from the girls each day,” said the coach. “The girls are working hard each day to get better. I can’t ask for anything more. I have no doubt we’ll get there.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Starfires will play at Southern Wells Friday before hosting Bluffton in next week’s ACAC tournament. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
