A Decatur homeowner who complained about a neighbor instead brought himself some new trouble.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At a recent city board of works meeting, Assistant Building\/Zoning Superintendent Brad Roe brought before the board an ongoing code enforcement problem with a home at 809 N. Second St.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It all began months ago, Roe said, when Gary Edwards was ordered to clean up his front yard at 809 N. Second.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He did so, but also launched a complaint against a neighbor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So, the department asked for and was given the okay by Edwards to go into his back yard in order to get a good look at the neighbor’s place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Upon doing so, however, rubbish and more was discovered in Edwards’ back yard! So he then got another notice, this one to abate the conditions in the back yard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

No progress was found on Dec. 2 and \u201cthere has been no communication\u201d since with Edwards, Roe said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In fact, Edwards told code enforcement officials they were banned from his back yard, Roe said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So the board of works moved to have City Attorney Anne Razo send Edwards a letter notifying him that he has until the board’s January 6 meeting to clean up or face fines of $100 per day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
