Adams Memorial Hospital has placed into operation a new scanner, a Siemens Magnetom Altea 1.5 Tesla MRI scanner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis state-of-the-art upgrade enhances diagnostic accuracy for our providers while improving comfort and efficiency for our patients,\u201d the hospital said in a statement announcing the addition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And the scanner is situated in a newly constructed MRI suite.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The hospital statement said the new MRI offers exceptional image quality, quieter exams, shorter scan times, and enhanced comfort features.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

All of that affords the radiology team more time to serve more patients each day, it was noted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The project required 10 weeks and included the complete removal of the hospital’s previous MRI unit and the construction of a brand-new scan room, technologist room, and equipment space.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Throughout the process, MRI services continued uninterrupted, thanks to a temporary mobile MRI unit, the hospital pointed out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cA key milestone in the project occurred on September 2, when the previous MRI scanner was officially quenched \u2013 a procedure in which the magnet is demagnetized.,\u201d the hospital said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAfter an emergency quench button was activated by a Siemens engineer, helium was safely released, allowing the magnet to lose its magnetic field within minutes.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
