The Bellmont Braves have won at least 17 games in the past nine seasons and it wasn’t that long ago that early season tests against steady area programs like Concordia Lutheran and Woodlan would hand the team their first loss of the season. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Woodlan spoiled the Braves’ season opener just two seasons ago and later in the year, Concordia also knocked them off. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fast forward to this season and the Braves are off to a 2-0 start after beating the Cadets and Warriors by a combined score of 118 to 33.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Warriors made just one bucket in front of their home crowd in the first quarter and were never in the game against the Braves, falling by a final score of 59-20. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mary Bleke torched the Woodlan defense for five baskets in that opening frame as part of a 15-point night that also included knocking one down from behind the arc to lead the Braves in scoring. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Oni Krueckeberg added 14 points and Kaitlyn Barton had eight, included a 4-for-4 night at the line. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Warriors keyed in on Ashley Bleke, holding her without a made field goal, although they did send her to the line nine times. The sophomore made four free throws. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Emma McDaniel and Savannah Scheumann were the leading scorers for the Warriors with just five points each. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
