It feels like basketball season is finally underway across the state of Indiana and plenty of area teams played on Tuesday evening. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Here’s a recap of the action from across the Z-Land area:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bellmont 59 Concordia Lutheran 13<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

It’s the kind of score you have to check twice, but the Bellmont Braves allowed just 13 points on the road Tuesday night to kick off a season that has started with the team garnering a #7 ranking in 3A, along with votes in the overall IBCA poll. Coach Andy Heim’s team beat the Cadets for a second straight year to start the season, 59-13. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Braves’ defense was outstanding, holding the home team to just a single made bucket the entire first half. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Alivia Bolinger, the 6′ 1″ Purdue Fort Wayne recruit, was held without a point in the contest by the suffocating Braves D.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ashley Bleke and Mary Bleke took care of the scoring in the first quarter, combining for all 13 points and setting up the visitors for a big second quarter, in which all five starters got in the scoring column. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Braves led 35 to 3 at halftime and never looked back. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ashley Bleke led the team in scoring with 16 points, knocking down 7 of 10 from the line. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kate Kitson’s pair of threes in the second quarter set her up for a ten-point performance. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bellmont will play at Woodlan Friday. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Garrett 65 Heritage 22<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Patriots could not stop Emma Coffman, who finished the night with 30 points for a dominating victory on her home court. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Heritage showed some grit with a strong second-quarter performance, keeping the Garrett lead manageable and going into halftime down twelve. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Olivia Lybarger, Elise Hissong, Molly Krey and Riley Roy all knocked down shots in that second quarter for Jason Miller’s team. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The final margin of victory looked extra lopsided after the Patriots were held scoreless in the fourth, missing all four free throws, while Garrett put 15 more points on the board. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
