One of the bigger events of the regular season, the New Haven Classic, was once again held at the Huntington University course and contested in three different classes, with all the runners dealing with a very warm set of conditions. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Concordia and Daphne Weller dominated the big-school race, with the Cadets beating out Homestead for the team title. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rowyn Norris of Leo won the AA race, but her Lion teammates had to settle for second place behind West Noble. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bellmont finished in tenth place. They were without Quinn Buchan (who was off with the volleyball team), but they did welcome back Allison Allmon. Madeline Witte led the Braves with a 23:21.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the small-school division, Churubusco won the team race despite not having a top-five finisher. Heritage took seventh, led by Rosalinda Medina, but her running mate, Emily High, was sorely missed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

For the Bellmont Boys, they were 7th in the AA race, running without Maddux Miller, who had to withdraw mid-race with an aggravation of an injury that has been hold him back. Hayden Whittenbarger had a Top-15 finish of 17:48. In context of just how warm it was, Whittenbarger’s fine progression this season still saw him 22 seconds slower than last year’s time in the same event. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Braves also suffered a setback when Owen Garcia twisted an ankle early in the race and could not continue. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Joe Kozlowski’s was not his best of the year (he went 18:45 and 18:46 earlier in September), but with the conditions, his 19:12 was awfully impressive for Coach Hisner’s team. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Heritage took tenth place in the A boys race. Corban Roth led the team with a 17:52. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

William Voglewede had an excellent race, keeping his time under 21 minutes in the high temperatures. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
