{"id":29050,"date":"2025-09-10T11:26:44","date_gmt":"2025-09-10T15:26:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wzbd.com\/?p=29050"},"modified":"2025-09-10T11:26:46","modified_gmt":"2025-09-10T15:26:46","slug":"deadline-nears-to-join-mayors-youth-council","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wzbd.com\/index.php\/2025\/09\/10\/deadline-nears-to-join-mayors-youth-council\/","title":{"rendered":"Deadline nears to join mayor&#8217;s youth council"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>BY BOB SHRALUKA<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>WZBD.com<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Friday is the deadline to apply to become a member of the Mayor&#8217;s Youth Council in Decatur.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Applications are available in the office of the guidance department at Bellmont High School and should be returned there by Friday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All BHS students are eligible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"500\" height=\"261\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/Mayor-youth.jpg?resize=500%2C261&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-29051\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/Mayor-youth.jpg?w=500&amp;ssl=1 500w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/Mayor-youth.jpg?resize=300%2C157&amp;ssl=1 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>This will be the fourth year for the council initiated by Decatur Mayor Dan Rickord.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Members of the council work directly with the mayor and city leaders, in addition to helping plan and be a part of community activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Meetings are held up to twice a month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A total of 12 students comprised the initial youth council.
