Today marks the 80th anniversary of the conclusion of World War II. To honor the ultimate sacrifices of local loved ones from this war and other US armed conflicts, we <\/a>are proud to announce the initial completion of the Adams County Gold Star Project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ten years ago, BHS History Teacher Bryan Lineberry began having his students complete narratives of individuals who had significant ties to Adams County that died while in service during World War II. In total there are 82 stories from Adams County military personnel included.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Over 100 students have been a part of this project locally since 2014,” said Mr. Lineberry. “Each of these students have played a small role in preserving these stories. They have not only learned history, but they have become historians preserving the legacy of our community\u2019s heroes.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The stories were initially completed at the end of this past school year. There are still updates in the works, such as GPS coordinates for those service members buried locally and expansion into other US armed conflicts (The Korean War is currently in process).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
