Decatur officials are looking toward the establishment of a downtown riverfront park and have scheduled a public meeting to receive input from residents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The park would be located in the area of a city-owned parking lot on the west side of the St. Marys River, between Monroe and Jackson streets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The meeting will be held next Wednesday at Riverside Center, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cSee concept renderings and options, share your favorites, and help shape a park everyone will love!\u201d says a city announcement on Facebook.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A steering committee has been working on plans for some time and its concepts will be made public at the meeting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe are looking forward to next Wednesday to get public input,\u201d Mayor Dan Rickord said at recent city council meeting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The mayor explained that a proposed park could happen next year or later, but for now a proposal is needed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
