Four Bellmont Braves carded their best nine-hole rounds of the season on the Par-35 back nine at Foster Park Saturday despite sweltering heat and humidity to give the team their best performance of the year so far in 2025. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ella Hockemeyer led the Braves, easily playing her best 18-hole round of the season with an 87. Her score of 42 on the back nine was also her best nine-hole score of the year. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Ella struggled with her ball-striking early,” said head coach Mike Macke, “but her scoring was decent. She eventually got into a groove and finished with five pars and nine bogeys on her way to her best total of the season.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The domination of the Braves on the back led Morgan Huss (44), Kinley Martin (51) and Ava Billman (47) to their best nine-hole scores of 2025. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“While our scoring was better today, I’m most proud of how the girls overcame a rocky start. Three of the five started with a double par on their first hole, and Morgan started with two doubles and a triple. However, they kept at it and things improved,” noted Macke. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The long-time coach noted that the course conditions were “terrible” with Foster Park undergoing major construction this summer. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“The fairways had cracks and dead areas,” he said, ” the greens were burned and spotty.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Heritage finished with a season-best team score as well, taking 14th with a 423. No. 1 Liz Buuck broke 100 for the first time this year with a round of 97. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Natalie Sorg’s 50 on the back gave her the best nine-hole and 18-hole score of her year for Heritage. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Braves finished ahead of two NE8 rivals, Leo and Huntington North, giving the team confidence as they get deeper into the conference slate. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
