{"id":27992,"date":"2025-08-12T06:26:48","date_gmt":"2025-08-12T10:26:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wzbd.com\/?p=27992"},"modified":"2025-08-12T06:26:50","modified_gmt":"2025-08-12T10:26:50","slug":"8th-annual-dekatur-germanfest-set-saturday","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wzbd.com\/index.php\/2025\/08\/12\/8th-annual-dekatur-germanfest-set-saturday\/","title":{"rendered":"8th annual Dekatur Germanfest set Saturday"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>By BOB SHRALUKA<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>WZBD.com<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If it&#8217;s August, that must mean it&#8217;s again time for the Dekatur Germanfest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Decatur Chamber&#8217;s eighth annual event, sponsored by Oakwood Mutual, will be held this Saturday on the Madison St., Plaza, from 5 to 10 p.m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Music will be provided, as usual, by The Franz Klaber Orchestra (The Klabberheads), an interactive 13-piece band from Hamilton, Ohio, which will be performing through the festive event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"640\" height=\"300\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/Fest-band.jpg?resize=640%2C300&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-27993\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/Fest-band.jpg?w=1024&amp;ssl=1 1024w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/Fest-band.jpg?resize=300%2C141&amp;ssl=1 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/Fest-band.jpg?resize=768%2C360&amp;ssl=1 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Polka dancing, of course, will be one of the highlights of the evening.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mayor Dan Rickord will officially kick off the proceedings by tapping the beer keg \u2013 said to be an official wooden keg from Bavaria \u2013 at 6 p.m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>No admission will be charged for what is labeled as a family-friendly event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Entrance to the biergarten (beer garden), however, will require a $5 charge.
