{"id":27952,"date":"2025-08-07T08:34:14","date_gmt":"2025-08-07T12:34:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wzbd.com\/?p=27952"},"modified":"2025-08-07T08:34:15","modified_gmt":"2025-08-07T12:34:15","slug":"a-courthouse-with-no-flag-on-top","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wzbd.com\/index.php\/2025\/08\/07\/a-courthouse-with-no-flag-on-top\/","title":{"rendered":"A courthouse with no flag on top!"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>By BOB SHRALUKA<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>WZBD.com<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>John Summers is a man on a mission and \u2013 citing past shared ventures \u2013 Decatur City Council is more than willing to do its small part to assist him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Summers, a member of Adams County Council, is trying to rectify a situation which has long been talked about as well as long been allowed to go unchanged.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Adams County Courthouse, in the heart of downtown Decatur, has for years been without a flag on the pole atop the splendid structure. \u201cNo one really knows how long,\u201d Summers told city council Tuesday night.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Summers explained how he was able to get the pulley system freed and able to operate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The county has invested $9,600 for repair work by Fuhrman Electric, but another problem cropped up as a mechanism gets stuck.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"566\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/Adams-County-Courthouse.jpg?resize=566%2C1024&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-27953\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/Adams-County-Courthouse.jpg?resize=566%2C1024&amp;ssl=1 566w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/Adams-County-Courthouse.jpg?resize=166%2C300&amp;ssl=1 166w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/Adams-County-Courthouse.jpg?resize=768%2C1391&amp;ssl=1 768w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/Adams-County-Courthouse.jpg?resize=848%2C1536&amp;ssl=1 848w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/Adams-County-Courthouse.jpg?resize=1024%2C1854&amp;ssl=1 1024w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/Adams-County-Courthouse.jpg?w=1041&amp;ssl=1 1041w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 566px) 100vw, 566px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>For $6,600, Smith Erectors can repair that problem, so Summers asked city council if it would be willing to share the cost with the county.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The reaction was swift and supportive.
