Robert L. Dowler, 86, of Hoagland, Indiana passed away Saturday morning, June 21, 2025, at Adams Woodcrest in Decatur, Indiana.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He was born on January 11, 1939, in Convoy, Ohio to the late Stephen and Freda (Kreischer) Dowler.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bob was united in marriage to Lois E. Bell on September 7, 1958 in Van Wert, Ohio and she preceded him in death on May 31, 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Soest in Fort Wayne, Indiana.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bob was a 1957 graduate of Convoy-Union High School in Convoy, Ohio and received his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Tri-State University in Angola, Indiana. He retired in 1997 after 37 years as an engineer with Navistar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bob loved traveling and attending his grandchildren and great-grandchildren activities. He enjoyed in his free time woodworking and designing.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bob is survived by his son, Mike Dowler of Hoagland, Indiana; daughter, Sandi (Luke) Selking of Hoagland, Indiana; son, Paul (Karen) Dowler of Crawfordsville, Indiana; nine grandchildren: Danny (Alyssa) Dowler, Casey (Marcus) Clindaniel, Jennifer Dowler, Heidi (Zach) Bush, Courtney (Scott) Stack, Grant (Sarah) Selking, Nathan (Kristy) Dowler, Andrew Dowler, and Jessica Dowler; 11 great-grandchildren; Laine Clindaniel, Calvin Clindaniel, Levi Dowler, Carter Bush, Ryan Selking, Karlie Selking, Evy Stack, Wes Stack, Connor Dowler, Addisyn Dowler and Hadley Dowler.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Maurice Dowler; a brother in infancy, Paul Henry Dowler and sister in infancy, Lois Ann Dowler.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 26, 2025, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Soest with Pastor Josef Henning officiating. Burial will follow at Emmanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Soest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Family and friends will be received from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Soest and one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
