{"id":27183,"date":"2025-06-20T09:32:43","date_gmt":"2025-06-20T13:32:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wzbd.com\/?p=27183"},"modified":"2025-06-20T09:32:45","modified_gmt":"2025-06-20T13:32:45","slug":"middle-east-tensions-impacting-fertilizer-markets","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wzbd.com\/index.php\/2025\/06\/20\/middle-east-tensions-impacting-fertilizer-markets\/","title":{"rendered":"Middle East tensions impacting fertilizer markets"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>By JARED WHITE<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Brownfield Ag Network<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The vice president of fertilizer with Stone X Group says increasing tensions in the Middle East are impacting global nitrogen prices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Josh Linville says the escalating Israel \u2013 Iran conflict has sent urea prices sharply higher as both countries slow production.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re up $75 to 80 bucks a ton, and the crazier thing is,\u201d he says, \u201cif you look at the price volatility, we\u2019ll be looking at price movements of well over $100 a ton in a matter of four or five days of trade.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He tells Brownfield that Egypt\u2019s production has also been reduced, and the Russia \u2013 Ukraine war was already squeezing global supplies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIf you look at the world from last year\u2019s numbers,\u201d he says, \u201cin 2024, Iran was the third largest urea exporter in the world; Egypt is number four, and Russia is number one.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Linville says the timing of the price spike means most U.S. farmers should just keep an eye on the situation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIf their next round of urea application isn\u2019t until spring of next year, that is a long ways away.\u201d&nbsp; He says, \u201cThat\u2019s a lot of time for this market to kind of shake itself out.
