Much of the fencing from the new dugouts to the outfield fence is decades old at the Bellmont baseball field. <\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

On Monday, May 22, 2023, a special presentation will take place at approximately 4:50 pm, just prior to the 5pm start of the South Adams \/ Bellmont baseball game being played at the Bellmont High School baseball stadium.\u00a0 \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The presentation\u00a0is from the Porter Family Foundation \/ Formula Boats and is in the amount of $60,000.\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Representatives from the Porter Family will be on hand to make the presentation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This special presentation will go toward the renovation\u00a0of the Bellmont High School baseball stadium, an ongoing project over the past several years. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“There is still a lot to do yet,” said former Decatur mayor and current Bellmont baseball grandfather Ken Meyer, who has acted as point man for drumming up support for the project. “Bellmont is important to me and to this community. We still have to erect new fencing on the other side of the dugout and the hope is to replace the fencing in the outfield. It needs it.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The donation by the Porter Family Foundation will allow the Bellmont baseball program to replace and update the outfield fence and install wind screens at the diamond. <\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Meyer also noted that much work has been done on all the surrounding areas of the field, but little work has been done for any part of the complex where the ball is in play. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“The area around home plate and the pitcher’s mound needs some real work yet.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meyer’s grandson, Keagan Martin, is a catcher on the Bellmont team. The area around home plate is set to receive an upgrade this offseason. <\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
