Both the Bluffton Tigers and the Adams Central Jets committed five errors Monday night in a closely-contested game between two ACAC rivals, with the visiting Tigers winning the battle for fifth place in the conference. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

While Bluffton held the Jets to just five hits, they simply could not get Melina Peralez out. The senior, now hitting .642 on the season, went 2-for-2 and was walked twice. She scored on three of her four trips on the base paths. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Adams Central answered Bluffton with four runs of their own after allowing four to the Tigers in the top of the first. Addy Jordon held the Tigers scoreless in the second, but allowed three more runs (unearned) in the third. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Jets got the game to 7-6 in the bottom of the third on a two-out squeeze attempt, with Brinlee Rinkenberger scoring on Andrea Isch’s bunt. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bluffton scored an eighth run when the Jets went to Myla Ellenberger in the fifth, with Marly Drayer knocking in a run with a base hit. It was the only run allowed by Ellenberger in three innings of relief. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mady Sonnigsen shut down the Jets in the following innings, stranding Peralez’s courtesy runner in the fifth and taking AC down 1-2-3 in the sixth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Adams Central did mount a rally in the seventh when Bluffton showed ultimate respect to Peralez, intentionally walking her with two outs and nobody on in an 8-6 game. Rinkenberger singled to right to send Peralez to third and she scored on a passed ball, but Sonnigsen got a strikeout to strand Rinkenberger on second to end the game. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Jets are scheduled to play five more games in the final five days of the regular season, with an away game at Winchester scheduled for Tuesday. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The loss dropped the team’s record to 3-16. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
