{"id":26351,"date":"2025-05-14T14:40:13","date_gmt":"2025-05-14T18:40:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wzbd.com\/?p=26351"},"modified":"2025-05-14T14:40:15","modified_gmt":"2025-05-14T18:40:15","slug":"decatur-giving-animal-control-a-new-look","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wzbd.com\/index.php\/2025\/05\/14\/decatur-giving-animal-control-a-new-look\/","title":{"rendered":"Decatur giving animal control a new look"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>By BOB SHRALUKA<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>WZBD.com<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The City of Decatur, through its board of works and safety, has approved another term of an inter-local agreement with Adams County for animal care and control.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But it&#8217;s rather obvious that Mayor Dan Rickord isn&#8217;t too happy about the arrangement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThere has been some complaints about the way things are done,\u201d he said when the subject arose at the recent city council meeting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"640\" height=\"227\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/Paws-Adams-County.jpg?resize=640%2C227&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-26352\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/Paws-Adams-County.jpg?w=826&amp;ssl=1 826w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/Paws-Adams-County.jpg?resize=300%2C106&amp;ssl=1 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/Paws-Adams-County.jpg?resize=768%2C272&amp;ssl=1 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The mayor said he has talked to other communities about how they handle the situation. \u201cAfter this contract (renewal) we need to take a look at how things are done,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He supported signing up for a new two years of the agreement, since the the renewal has been up in the air since the first of the year.
