{"id":26297,"date":"2025-05-12T18:35:58","date_gmt":"2025-05-12T22:35:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wzbd.com\/?p=26297"},"modified":"2025-05-12T18:35:59","modified_gmt":"2025-05-12T22:35:59","slug":"ex-heritage-student-to-present-500-milk","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wzbd.com\/index.php\/2025\/05\/12\/ex-heritage-student-to-present-500-milk\/","title":{"rendered":"Ex-Heritage student to present 500 milk"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>By BOB SHRALUKA<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>WZBD.com<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A former Heritage High School student with ties to North Adams Schools has been named one of two presenters of milk for this year&#8217;s Indianapolis 500.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ashley Thieme Stockwell of Hudson will be at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway on Sunday, May 25, to present milk to the winner of the 500-mile race.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"573\" height=\"678\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/Milk-Stockwell-family.jpg?resize=573%2C678&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-26299\" style=\"width:317px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/Milk-Stockwell-family.jpg?w=573&amp;ssl=1 573w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/Milk-Stockwell-family.jpg?resize=254%2C300&amp;ssl=1 254w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 573px) 100vw, 573px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><em>Ashley, Kyle Stockwell family<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Stockwell, whose father, Todd Thieme, is a former assistant principal at Bellmont High School, and Abbie Herr of Kendallville were selected by the American Dairy Association Indiana\u2019s Rookie + Veteran Farmer program. The association has selected a \u2018veteran\u2019 and \u2018rookie\u2019 milk presenter each year since 2006.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Stockwell, the rookie, and Herr will present the milk in Victory Circle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the American Dairy Association Indiana, the \u201cWinners Drink Milk\u201d tradition started at the 1936 Indianapolis 500 by driver Louis Meyer, who requested buttermilk to quench his thirst after the race.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Stockwell and her husband, Kyle are part of a Stockwell family-owned dairy farm which milks 750 cows and farms nearly 1,100 acres near Hudson in Steuben County.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"489\" height=\"340\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/Milk-presenters.jpg?resize=489%2C340&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-26298\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/Milk-presenters.jpg?w=489&amp;ssl=1 489w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/Milk-presenters.jpg?resize=300%2C209&amp;ssl=1 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 489px) 100vw, 489px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><em>Abbie Herr (left) and Ashley Stockwell (American Dairy Assn.
