Homestead only outhit Heritage (7-6) Wednesday night, but came away with a 4-1 victory in non-conference play over the Patriots. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a matchup between two aces – Heritage’s Danica Fuller vs. Homestead’s Maddy Burbrink – it was the clutch hitting of the Spartans that ultimately made the difference. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Three of the four Spartan runs came on RBI base hits with runners in scoring position, while the other came on a groundout with the runner at third base. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Danica Fuller had seven strikeouts, many of them snuffing out Homestead rallies. She walked two and stranded five runners. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Both hurlers also served as their team’s leadoff hitter. Fuller was held in check by Burbrink for a rare, one-hit night by the Patriot spark plug. Burbrink had a double and an RBI off Fuller, striking out once. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Heritage will shake off the loss to 4A Homestead and look to take advantage of a game against an Adams Central team that is down on hard times Thursday. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
