{"id":26006,"date":"2025-05-05T15:13:20","date_gmt":"2025-05-05T19:13:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wzbd.com\/?p=26006"},"modified":"2025-05-05T15:13:22","modified_gmt":"2025-05-05T19:13:22","slug":"crossroad-project-connect-services-detailed","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wzbd.com\/index.php\/2025\/05\/05\/crossroad-project-connect-services-detailed\/","title":{"rendered":"Crossroad, Project Connect services detailed"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>By BOB SHRALUKA<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>WZBD.com<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe want to provide services to everyone coming out of jail,\u201d Rob Parker told Decatur City Council at a recent meeting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Parker is executive director of both Crossroads Community and Project Connect (formerly Adams County Recovery Resource Center) in Adams County.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Parker told council he was present to provide an update on services being provided by the two organizations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Crossroad Community is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing a supportive environment for individuals in recovery from addiction. Crossroad says it offers hope and a path to healing for those in need through faith-based programming, community engagement, and comprehensive recovery services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"640\" height=\"463\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/Rob-Parker.jpg?resize=640%2C463&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-26007\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/Rob-Parker.jpg?w=918&amp;ssl=1 918w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/Rob-Parker.jpg?resize=300%2C217&amp;ssl=1 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/Rob-Parker.jpg?resize=768%2C556&amp;ssl=1 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><em>Rob Parker<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Project Connect, meanwhile, \u201cbridges the gap between men and women coming out of jail, prison,\u201d Parker explained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe help people struggling, people leaving jail who are in need of help navigating getting jobs, housing, things like that,\u201d Parker told WZBD.com.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe also work inside the jail, since January,\u201d he continued. \u201cSheriff Dan (Mawhorr) gave us a room where we hold regular classes.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The organization has three recovery houses, two in Berne and one just being opened in Decatur. I look forward to working with our dedicated team to expand our impact and help more people on their journey to recovery.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Before taking the dual posts, Parker had been a social worker, LARC coordinator, and director for Gateway Woods, an organization in the Leo area that provides social services and support to at-risk youth and families.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Parker, who had his own problems with the law in the past, holds a Bachelor of Arts in Behavioral Science from Indiana University and an Associate\u2019s Degree in Organizational Leadership from Purdue University Northwest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>DONATION: Council recently agreed to donate its funds from the federal opioid settlement to Crossroads. Ron Dull, a Crossroads board member, made the request.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The latest settlement money amounts to $1,270.69. \u201cThat&#8217;s about it.
