Columbia City captured the team title in the big-school division of the annual Turtletown Classic at Churubusco Saturday, while Bellmont struggled to a last-place finish. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Braves scored a point with their 4×400 relay and two more with the 4×800. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ava Billman scored the biggest point total for the Braves with a four-point tally in the high jump, where she was only beaten by three girls. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
While the Braves were missing several of their top freshman because of an injury and other commitments, they did get a point from Alayna Baker, who continues to make big progress as a thrower. She was eighth in the shot. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ninth grader Braelyn Radecki scored a point for the Braves in the discus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

-Freshman Grace Ruble set a PR in the 800, finishing in 14th place. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
-Bre Feasel ran her best 3200 of the season and took 16th place, finishing two spots ahead of teammate Sophia Silva, who also ran a season best. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
-Tia Coyne ran her season best by a second in the 300 hurdles. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
-Maya Schlemmer had her best long jump performance since the indoor season with a distance of 12-11.5 for 17th place. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
-Ava Billman also had her best jump of the year, just eight inches short of Schlemmer. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
-Radecki’s point in the discus was not as impressive as the difference between her previous PR (69-06) and her distance Saturday (85-10). The freshman continues to improve as she recovers from knee surgery earlier in the year. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
