{"id":2566,"date":"2023-05-18T20:52:26","date_gmt":"2023-05-19T00:52:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wzbd.com\/?p=2566"},"modified":"2023-05-18T20:52:29","modified_gmt":"2023-05-19T00:52:29","slug":"pickleball-expansion-work-continues-in-decatur","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wzbd.com\/index.php\/2023\/05\/18\/pickleball-expansion-work-continues-in-decatur\/","title":{"rendered":"Pickleball expansion work continues in Decatur"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>By BOB SHRALUKA<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>WZBD.com<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Work is underway on a project to add new outdoor pickleball courts at Riverside Center in Decatur.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The sand volleyball courts, which have been situated behind the center for a number of years, are being removed, to be replaced by six pickleball courts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A new sand volleyball court will be placed on the west side of the pickleball courts, with the fencing in that area having removed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There is also talk of possibly adding shuffleboard courts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Decatur-Adams County parks and recreation department also is adding a third pickleball court to the existing two at the REV Sports Complex.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The existing courts are set up east and west, but will be redirected to north and south for the addition of the third court.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pickleball courts already are located in Riverside Center, in the MERIT Center, and in the Adams County Service Complex.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A group of local pickleball enthusiasts, park board officials, and Adams County officials have been involved in the planning of the additional pickleball courts.
