{"id":25510,"date":"2025-04-22T20:07:05","date_gmt":"2025-04-23T00:07:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wzbd.com\/?p=25510"},"modified":"2025-04-22T20:07:06","modified_gmt":"2025-04-23T00:07:06","slug":"decatur-officers-complete-probationary-status","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wzbd.com\/index.php\/2025\/04\/22\/decatur-officers-complete-probationary-status\/","title":{"rendered":"Decatur officers complete probationary status"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>By BOB SHRALUKA<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>WZBD.com<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Decatur Police Department has two officers who recently completed their field training and one-year probationary period, plus a third officer who will soon be joining up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Chief Kevin Gerber asked the city&#8217;s board of works and safety at its recent meeting to remove the probationary status of Joseph Collier and Luke Roby. The request was granted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cBoth have been doing very well since they&#8217;ve been back (from the academy),\u201d Gerber noted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Roby and Collier, each 22, have been on the status since their from graduation from the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy in Plainfield a year ago.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"93\" height=\"196\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/unnamed-51.jpg?resize=93%2C196&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-25512\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><em>Collier<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Roby, a 2021 graduate of Adams Central, is a native of Adams County, the son of Josh and Kelly Roby. He had been employed in the sheriff&#8217;s office jail division for three years prior to being hired by the Decatur PD.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Collier, another a 2021 AC grad, also had been employed in the sheriff&#8217;s department jail division.
