The Decatur Police Department has two officers who recently completed their field training and one-year probationary period, plus a third officer who will soon be joining up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Chief Kevin Gerber asked the city’s board of works and safety at its recent meeting to remove the probationary status of Joseph Collier and Luke Roby. The request was granted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cBoth have been doing very well since they’ve been back (from the academy),\u201d Gerber noted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Roby and Collier, each 22, have been on the status since their from graduation from the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy in Plainfield a year ago.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Roby, a 2021 graduate of Adams Central, is a native of Adams County, the son of Josh and Kelly Roby. He had been employed in the sheriff’s office jail division for three years prior to being hired by the Decatur PD.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Collier, another a 2021 AC grad, also had been employed in the sheriff’s department jail division. He is the son of Randall and Julie Collier.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meanwhile, Dallas Creager, 27, is due to graduate from the academy this Friday, then will join the department on probationary status, beginning a year of field training.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The native of Bluffton and graduate of Southern Wells High School previously had been a member of the Geneva Police Department.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

His addition will bring the Decatur PD up to full force once again: 20 officers, including Gerber and Assistant Chief Jeff Brite.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
