Home course advantage was evident in Thursday’s victory for the Bellmont Braves, as they navigated the back nine at Cross Creek to the tune of a 34-stroke victory in the NE8 over the East Noble Knights, 165-199. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bellmont’s ace, Owen Minnick, was medalist with the only round in the 30s, shooting a three-over 39 to lead the Braves. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Minnick took advantage of the Par 5s of the old course, going -1 on No. 15 and No. 18 to remind the coaching staff why he is the No. 1 for the Braves. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Braves were supposed to begin the season Tuesday, but the weather forced the season opener to also be the NE8 opener. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“It was a pretty good score for our first effort,” said assistant coach Mike Macke after the Braves’ round of 165. “It was breezy and chilly, but the guys kept it together.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cameron Summers played the final four holes at par to finish second for the Braves with a 41, while Ben Binegar shot a 42. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Two freshmen made their high school debuts as varsity golfers, with Chase Baker finishing in the mix with a 43 and Jacob Binegar right behind him with a 44. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
