{"id":25415,"date":"2025-04-20T04:42:17","date_gmt":"2025-04-20T08:42:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wzbd.com\/?p=25415"},"modified":"2025-04-20T04:42:20","modified_gmt":"2025-04-20T08:42:20","slug":"injured-convoy-firefighter-now-home","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wzbd.com\/index.php\/2025\/04\/20\/injured-convoy-firefighter-now-home\/","title":{"rendered":"Injured Convoy firefighter now home"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>By BOB SHRALUKA<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>WZBD.com<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Chaise Dawson, the Convoy, Ohio, firefighter who was severely burned in an April 8 house fire, is now recuperating at home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dawson received a warm welcome from fellow first-responders, family and friends at Convoy park on Tuesday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe surprise gathering was a truly amazing experience,\u201d his wife, Olivia McKeddie, said. We feel truly blessed to have such a wonderful community in our lives!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She added that while he has made significant recovery, \u201che still has a long journey ahead of him.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dawson and another Convoy firefighter, Jake Hicks, were inside a burning home when the fire flashed behind them. Dawson suffered third-degree burns on his right arm and shoulder, back, neck and ear.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He was taken to Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne, then sent on to the Eskenazi Hospital burn unit. Last Monday (April 14) he underwent a 90-minute surgery that involved some skin grafting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The house fire occurred in the 4500 block of Lare Road, Tully Township, in Van Wert County, Ohio.
