{"id":25363,"date":"2025-04-17T13:34:51","date_gmt":"2025-04-17T17:34:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wzbd.com\/?p=25363"},"modified":"2025-04-17T13:34:52","modified_gmt":"2025-04-17T17:34:52","slug":"hackman-resigns-decatur-clerk-treasurer-post","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wzbd.com\/index.php\/2025\/04\/17\/hackman-resigns-decatur-clerk-treasurer-post\/","title":{"rendered":"Hackman resigns Decatur clerk-treasurer post"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>By BOB SHRALUKA<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>WZBD.com<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Making a decision he described as \u201cbittersweet,\u201d Kevin Hackman on Wednesday resigned as Decatur&#8217;s clerk-treasurer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hackman said he has accepted a position as the Fort Wayne division manager with EJ Prescott Inc., a water, wastewater, &amp; stormwater distributor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The resignation is effective May 9, following the May 6 city council meeting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hackman was in his second year in the city post, having replaced long-time clerk-treasurer Phyllis Whitright at the start of 2023 after being elected the previous November.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He had been serving as Decatur&#8217;s utilities auditor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"167\" height=\"209\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/unnamed-45.jpg?resize=167%2C209&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-25364\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><em>HACKMAN<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>In his resignation letter submitted to Adams County Clerk Shelly Brite, Hackman said: \u201cI have thoroughly enjoyed my time with the City and after much consideration have accepted the position of Division Manager with EJ Prescott Inc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI would like to thank all the incredible staff and officials that I work every day to make our City better. It has been an honor to serve the City for the last ten years in various capacities and while it was a difficult decision, this opportunity is the right move for my family and I at this time.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kevin and his wife, Mollie, are the parents of four daughters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Adams County Republican Party Chairman Steve Justus has 30 days to fill the city office and has said he will be soon hold a caucus of eligible precinct committeemen\/women; they will elect a new clerk-treasurer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Anyone with interest in the job should contact Justus.
