Less than 24 hours after coming off of a no-hitter against Wayne with five hurlers, the Heritage Patriots changed strategies and went with just one and she delivered. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Danica Fuller struck out nine and allowed just three earned runs, throwing a complete game that ended in a 7-5 Heritage victory at Columbia City Wednesday night. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fuller, of course, led the team with her bat, as well, hitting the team’s first home run of the season to tie the game at three runs apiece in the fifth inning, knocking in Hadlee Shipp. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Patriots’ ace allowed just one extra-base hit the rest of the way and held the Eagles in check midway through their run of three opening games in the season’s first three evenings. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Center fielder Abriyah James had three singles and scored twice to help the winning cause, while Avi Washington knocked in three runs with a couple of timely base hits. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Emma Hiss took the loss for the home team, despite striking out nine. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The heart of the Eagles’ lineup did the most damage to Fuller, with the 3-4-5 hitters accounting for seven of the ten hits allowed, but Danica persevered to keep the Patriots unbeaten in the young season. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
