Children must be accompanied by an adult.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ring and bag toss, bowling, golf, crafts, Plinko, corn hole, a basketball toss and a cookie walk are on the day&#8217;s agenda.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A new addition this year will be a resource fair, with community groups sharing what they do, according to SAFE.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>SAFE in Adams County and Drug Free Adams County are sponsoring the event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"497\" height=\"406\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/Outlook-ummy4gl5.jpg?resize=497%2C406&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-24845\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/Outlook-ummy4gl5.jpg?w=497&amp;ssl=1 497w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/Outlook-ummy4gl5.jpg?resize=300%2C245&amp;ssl=1 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 497px) 100vw, 497px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>On Tuesday, April 1, SAFE will hold its annual Celebration of Youth and Children on the front area of the Adams County Courthouse in Decatur, starting at 12 noon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sheriff Dan Mawhoor will be the featured speaker and his address will be followed by the planting of the pinwheel \u201cgarden.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Also celebrated will be teachers and staff, agencies and volunteers who have supported the youth and children: Adams County Department of Child Services, Firefly Children and Family Alliance, Adams County Healthy Families, Adams-Wells Crisis Center, Family-Centered Services, Purdue Extension Office, Brightpoint and SAFE in Adams County.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>STARTED 2008: In 2008, Prevent Child Abuse America introduced the Pinwheels for Prevention campaign.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWhat our research showed, and what our experiences since then have reinforced,\u201d the organization says, \u201cis that people respond positively to pinwheels, which represent childlike whimsy and lightheartedness and our vision for a world where all children grow up happy, healthy, and prepared to succeed in supportive families and communities.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>SAFE in Adams County has been a Chartered Council since 2014.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Monthly meetings are held the second Tuesday of each month at 6 p.m. at the Adams County Healthy Families facility, 829 E Monroe Street in Decatur.
