The graduation of key contributors, including Hailey Cole, and a season-ending injury to the team’s most dynamic athlete, Jazlyn Brown, meant lots of new names on the results sheets for coach Carl Risch’s BHS track and field team at Wednesday’s NE8 Indoor Meet. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The opener brought plenty of welcome news, however, as Ava Billman and Mary Bleke showed that they might just make the field events a strength of the Braves this season. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Notes & Times: <\/p>\n\n\n\n

-Only two girls went higher than Bellmont sophomore Ava Billman in the jump as she went 4-10 to score big team points for the Braves with a height that was as good as any Bellmont attempt in the whole of 2024. It was, of course, a career high for Billman. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

-Mary Bleke’s first foray into throwing went rather well. The three-sport star finished third in the shot put with a top throw of 32-10. The only Bellmont girl to throw that far in the past three years is Hailey Cole. Bleke will be one of the top scorers for the Braves this season. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
