A $1.5 million grant from Indiana’s Community Crossings program will fund a bridge replacement and the reconstruction of a road in Adams County.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gov. Mike Braun and state officials announced the latest grants, with counties and communities receiving over $24 million for road and bridge projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In all, over $200 million is being awarded to 245 cities, towns and counties in Indiana.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Adams County received the maximum amount, $1.5 million, and will be required to provide a 25% match..<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to replacing a bridge, Adams County will use its funds for a major road project: a reconstruction of CR 300N from US 27 to the west county line, according to county Commissioner Stan Stoppenhagen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The latest grants include $652,432 to the town of Ossian, as well as $328,606 to Wells County.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Among other awards: Allen County, $1.5 million; Fort Wayne, $1.5 million; Huntington County, $1,477,458; New Haven, $1,125,667; South Whitley, $1,425,000.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Applications for grants were submitted in January.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cities and towns with a population of less than 10,000 and counties with a population under 50,000 receive funds using a 75-25% match. Cities and towns with populations greater than 10,000 and counties with more than 50,000 people receive funds using a 50-50% match.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Funding for Community Crossings comes from the state\u2019s local road and bridge matching grant fund. State officials said Community Crossings has provided more than $2 billion for local road improvement projects since its inception in 2016.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
