{"id":23131,"date":"2025-01-11T16:33:18","date_gmt":"2025-01-11T21:33:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wzbd.com\/?p=23131"},"modified":"2025-01-12T17:22:18","modified_gmt":"2025-01-12T22:22:18","slug":"depleted-starfires-suffer-three-defeats-at-team-state","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wzbd.com\/index.php\/2025\/01\/11\/depleted-starfires-suffer-three-defeats-at-team-state\/","title":{"rendered":"Depleted Starfires suffer three defeats at Team State"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>DANE FUELLING<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>WZBD.com<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Going into Saturday&#8217;s Team State as the #5 seed but without their best wrestler, the South Adams Starfires were bound to have difficulty competing with the state&#8217;s top teams, but the loss of Isaiah Meyer was acutely painful to the Stars because of the three forfeits they were carrying. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the end of the day, the Starfires went 7-7 and lost their opener, dropping into the consolation bracket before eventually rounding out the day with another 7-7 loss in the race to avoid last place. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Without Meyer, the Stars did not have enough to overcome Alexandria in the opener, losing 41-40.
