{"id":23068,"date":"2025-01-09T10:16:26","date_gmt":"2025-01-09T15:16:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wzbd.com\/?p=23068"},"modified":"2025-01-09T10:16:29","modified_gmt":"2025-01-09T15:16:29","slug":"further-study-of-decatur-cc-bids-okayed","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wzbd.com\/index.php\/2025\/01\/09\/further-study-of-decatur-cc-bids-okayed\/","title":{"rendered":"Further study of Decatur CC bids okayed"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>By BOB SHRALUKA<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>WZBD.com<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A \u201cbig chunk of money\u201d is involved with this year&#8217;s street repaving and sidewalk improvements in Decatur, so city officials want to take plenty of time looking over bids for the major project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Four bids for the contract were opened at council&#8217;s previous meeting, and it was expected that a contract would be awarded at council&#8217;s January 7 meeting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, no members of the city&#8217;s board of works, which will make the final decision on which bid to take and award the contract, felt comfortable making the decision at the January 7 meeting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So, with the bids good for 60 days, it was decided that further study would be the best course.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"612\" height=\"408\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/Outlook-uvz0ylxw.jpg?resize=612%2C408&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-23069\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/Outlook-uvz0ylxw.jpg?w=612&amp;ssl=1 612w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/Outlook-uvz0ylxw.jpg?resize=300%2C200&amp;ssl=1 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 612px) 100vw, 612px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Two manual workers helping to level the asphalt surface for a steamroller to press.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Mayor Dan Rickord, a member of the board via his position, said he still had some questions involving the bids and was for holding off a final decision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt&#8217;s a pretty big chunk of money; I&#8217;m for looking into it further,\u201d board member Craig Coshow said. \u201cIt&#8217;s our job to do our due diligence.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The bids, which vary in several ways, are as follows:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Milestone Construction (3 Indiana locations), $1,868,347.69.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Brooks Construction (Fort Wayne) $1,876,217.00.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Wayne Asphalt (Fort Wayne), $1,918,627.40.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>DC Construction Services (Pendleton), $1,499,410.72.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Decatur was awarded a grant of $1,456,125 through the Indiana Department of Transportation&#8217;s Community Crossing program, an initiative which has provided the city with numerous street re-pavings through millions of dollars in grants over the years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The city will come up with a 25% match on the new deal, which will amount to roughly $363,000.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>City Operations Manager Jeremy Gilbert said previously that he was extremely pleased with the bids.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By BOB SHRALUKA WZBD.com A \u201cbig chunk of money\u201d is involved with this year&#8217;s street repaving and sidewalk<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[5],"tags":[15,21],"class_list":["post-23068","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-news","tag-featured","tag-news"],"jetpack_featured_media_url":"","jetpack_sharing_enabled":true,"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/wzbd.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/23068","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/wzbd.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/wzbd.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/wzbd.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/wzbd.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=23068"}],"version-history":[{"count":1,"href":"https:\/\/wzbd.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/23068\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":23070,"href":"https:\/\/wzbd.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/23068\/revisions\/23070"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/wzbd.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=23068"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/wzbd.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=23068"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/wzbd.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=23068"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
