Adams Central had the perfect starting weight and wasted no time Saturday morning, taking the first five bouts against Jay County to build a 30-0 lead en route to a 6-0 day at the ACAC Duals in the SAC in Monroe. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ethan Funk’s pin of Freddy Lingo at 215 made it five falls in five matches, but perhaps one of the biggest wins came at 106, where Ezra Liechty answered a fall by JC’s Alan Ortiz at heavyweight with a pair of takedowns -one in the first and one in the third- for a 6-0 decision. That match made a big difference in the final scoreline, which ultimately went Adams Central 47 – Jay County 30. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Patriots scored two big wins to keep AC from clinching early, with Sylas Wenk pinning Myles Kaehr at 120 and Jason Landers picking up a surprise fall at 132. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Adams Central wrapped up the win over their rivals with solid matches from Dylan Ogg and Brason Schortgen. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Round 2: Adams Central had no problems with Southern Wells, while South Adams opened their day with a win over Heritage. One big bright spot for Heritage was Zeke Litchfield, the freshman at 175 who beat Wes Summersett 13-2. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Round 3: Wrestling with an extra forfeit Saturday compared to the previous week, the Starfires had to overcome an 18-6 deficit against the Tigers, who are likely much better than some people may think. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Brock Sprunger showed what he can do for the Starfires at 106 when he gutted out a nice win at 11-7 over Will Frettinger. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Stars also got Will Patterson back for the first time against Bluffton. He beat Grant Nunley with a third-period fall. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Falls by Wyatt Mann and Braxtyn Hough wrapped up the win for the Stars. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jax Litchfield and Max Mirelez were the only two winners for Heritage in their 62-18 loss to AC. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Round 4: The showdown between Adams Central and South Adams could have been the championship match depending on how the Starfires would fare against Jay County later on in the day. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It lived up to the billing. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Jets were quickly up 12-6 after working through the Starfires’ two forfeits, but Brock Sprunger came back from two takedowns by Ezra Liechty to win by fall at 106. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

An even better match followed at 113, where two postseason hopefuls – Max Adams and Myles Kaehr – entertained the crowd with a back-and-forth match. Kaehr scored the opening three, but it was a takedown by Adams and a quick nearfall after a long blood timeout that gave him a 7-4 win. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The standout wrestling continued from both teams at 126, with a late reversal by Kale Beer proving to be the difference between himself and Dakota Sprunger in a 5-4 match. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Will Patterson’s return to the Starfire lineup yielded coach Sawyer Miller six points at 132, but it was a pair of decisions by Jackson Bingham and Dylan Ogg that ultimately led to the Jets coming away with the win. They were the first two of six consecutive bouts won by Adams Central to take the dual, 40-27. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

#14 Mav Dubach beat #12 Isaiah Meyer in a high-stakes match at 157, with South Adams desperately needing a win. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Max Byerly’s late takedown to beat Nathan Plattner sealed the win for the Jets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Note: No results were provided by Heritage for their matches. Their result against Woodlan is unknown. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Round 5: By the time South Adams got to Isaiah Meyer and his mid-upper weight teammates, the match was won by Jay County. Meyer, Nathan Plattner and Wes Summersett all won by fall, but it was not enough as Jay County claimed second place on the day with a 47-36 win. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Adams Central won easily against last-place Woodlan, 72-11<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Round 6: South Adams blanked Woodlan 54-0, while Adams Central had the bye. No results were reported by Heritage against Bluffton. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Round 7: Adams Central got everything Bluffton could offer in a 43-30 win that could have ended up ruining the Jets’ day. Ethan Funk wrapped up the win by staying off his back and avoiding the fall against Jake Boots in an 11-2 loss at 215. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
