The South Side Archers jumped out to a big lead in the first quarter and never looked back Tuesday, stopping the Starfires’ momentum from two consecutive victories in the previous four days. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

South Side scored 22 in the opening eight minutes to build a 22-8 lead and led 37-15 at halftime. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“We really got off to a horrible start tonight,” said Starfire coach Brett Freeman. “We quickly dug ourselves a big hole. Their constant pressure was difficult for us to handle.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bry’Lee Diederich-Williams knocked down four threes and tied for scoring honors with Maddie White with 19 points. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ana Lehman led the Stars in scoring with ten. She was 4 from 6 at the free throw line. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Despite the loss, Freeman still feels like his young team showed great grit. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“I never saw a sense of ‘giving up’ from our girls,” he said. “After three games in basically three days, I know we had some tired bodies out there.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Starfires did not hit a three in the game. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Archers moved to 3-8 on the year with the win.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
