Jean Ann \u201cShorty\u201d Lawhorn, 66, of Bluffton, passed away Thursday afternoon, May 11, 2023, at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jean was born in Huntington on Apr. 8, 1957, to Richard and Treva (Morris) Douglas.  Her mother survives in Ossian.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jean graduated from Huntington North High School in 1978.  She worked in the healthcare field for over 30 years as a cook and a CAN.  She loved to cook and especially enjoyed cooking for her family and her children\u2019s friends.  She also loved to play Bingo and loved her cat, \u201cBandit\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to her parents, Jean is survived by a daughter, Heather Scott (Rob Schocke) of Kendallville; a son, David (Brandi) Lawhorn of Bluffton; a sister, Sharon Baker of Bluffton; eight grandchildren, Shaly Reed, Zarrdan Reed, Korben Page, Braydon Lawhorn, Natalie Lawhorn, Gavin Quackenbush, Gia Quackenbush, and Gracely Quackenbush; along with two great-grandchildren, Novaya and Athena Klarer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Aside from her father, Jean was preceded in death by her lifelong companion, Richard Lanning; a sister, Bonnie Haler; and a great-granddaughter, Luna Klarer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Funeral services are pending at this time and will be published on this website as soon as they are available.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
