Adams County Superior Court Judge Samuel Conrad sentenced a Markle man found guilty of killing his grandmother to the maximum sentence allowed for murder yesterday in Huntington.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The judge sentenced Anthony Castleman to 65 years in prison with an additional 20 years for being a habitual offender.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Adams County Superior Court Judge Samuel Conrad \u2014 was appointed as a special judge in the case.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Castleman\u2019s sentencing comes exactly one year after the Huntington County Sheriff’s office announced on Facebook that officers were obtaining an arrest warrant for him. Deputies were dispatched the day before to the home of 72-year-old Dianna Eubank after family had not heard from her in days. Authorities found Eubank dead during the welfare check.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The aftermath of the discovery led to a manhunt that included billboards appearing across Indiana displaying a photo of Castleman and offering a reward for information on his whereabouts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The U.S. Marshals Service eventually located Castleman in Georgia which led to his extradition back to Indiana.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On Nov. 1, a jury found Castleman guilty after only nine minutes of deliberations. After being found guilty, Castleman proclaimed his innocence outside the courtroom and said he \u201cdid not commit that crime.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
