{"id":21305,"date":"2024-11-05T04:47:21","date_gmt":"2024-11-05T09:47:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wzbd.com\/?p=21305"},"modified":"2024-11-05T04:47:22","modified_gmt":"2024-11-05T09:47:22","slug":"james-lantz","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wzbd.com\/index.php\/2024\/11\/05\/james-lantz\/","title":{"rendered":"James Lantz"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>James \u201cJim\u201d Allen Lantz, 74, of rural Decatur, took his final dispatch from home to his new heavenly home, on Sunday afternoon, Nov. 3, 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jim was born in Wells County on May 18, 1950, to Daniel and Gladys (Bertsch) Lantz. He married Kathy Myers in Bluffton on Oct. 16, 1971; she survives. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image alignleft size-full\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"200\" height=\"200\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/9115910_fbs.jpg?resize=200%2C200&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-21306\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/9115910_fbs.jpg?w=200&amp;ssl=1 200w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/9115910_fbs.jpg?resize=150%2C150&amp;ssl=1 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 200px) 100vw, 200px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Having been a born-again Christian, Jim was a member of the Apostolic Christian Church. &nbsp;He graduated from Adams Central High School in 1968 and was a life-long truck driver, including Mersman Tables, Case Leasing, Energy Products, Kaehr Excavating, Phelps Dodge, Air Products, National Oil, and finally Lehman Feed Mill. &nbsp;Jim was also a farmer and mechanic for many in the surrounding counties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jim\u2019s favorite pastimes were his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. &nbsp;It was rare for him to ever miss an event where he could cheer them on or an opportunity to teach and encourage them. &nbsp;He was such a blessing to them and constantly checking their oil. &nbsp;His family is not sure how their vehicles will continue without him. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition to his wife Kathy, of 53 years, Jim is survived by a son, Chad (Stephanie) Lantz of Bluffton; a daughter, Cybil (Joe) Dunnuck of Uniondale; nine grandchildren, Garrett, Daphne, Phoebe, and Bridget Lantz, Madison (Wade) Lundeen, Sadie (Jacob) Buffenbarger, Aubrey Dunnuck, Ethan (Shaylee) Dunnuck, and Andrew Dunnuck; and great-grandchildren, Brynn and Adler Lundeen, Ezra Buffenbarger, and Baby Girl Dunnuck (due in April). &nbsp;Jim is also survived by two sisters, Rose Pfister and Mary Lantz, both of Bluffton; and three brothers, John (Sue) Lantz, Dan Jr. (Charlene) Lantz, and Steve Lantz, all of Bluffton.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jim was preceded in death by his parents.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Visitation will be Thursday, Nov. 7, 2024, from noon until 8:00 PM, at Goodwin \u2013 Cale &amp; Harnish Memorial Chapel in Bluffton. &nbsp;Services will be held on Friday, Nov. 8, at 10:30 AM, at the Apostolic Christian Church East, with one hour of visitation prior to the service at the church. &nbsp;Chad Gerber and Brent Kaehr will officiate. &nbsp;Burial will follow at the Apostolic Christian Cemetery in Adams County.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children\u2019s Research Hospital.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>James \u201cJim\u201d Allen Lantz, 74, of rural Decatur, took his final dispatch from home to his new heavenly<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[8],"tags":[23],"class_list":["post-21305","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-obituaries","tag-obit"],"jetpack_featured_media_url":"","jetpack_sharing_enabled":true,"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/wzbd.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/21305","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/wzbd.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/wzbd.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/wzbd.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/wzbd.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=21305"}],"version-history":[{"count":1,"href":"https:\/\/wzbd.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/21305\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":21307,"href":"https:\/\/wzbd.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/21305\/revisions\/21307"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/wzbd.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=21305"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/wzbd.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=21305"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/wzbd.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=21305"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
