If so, Laurinda Goode has rediscovered her heart.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAs a Decatur native, I am thrilled to be back in my hometown,\u201d says the new director of the HIVE. \u201cI\u2019ve spent the last three decades moving around the state of Indiana &#8230; going to wherever my professional career dictated.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Much of that time was spent living in the Fort Wayne and Indianapolis areas, working as a corporate trainer, broadcast professional and currently as a product specialist for an international insurance company.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So, one might ask, where does the art come in?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve always had a love of art and it is what motivates me and brings me the most joy in my life,\u201d Goode said. \u201cThe best way for me to spend a day off is to attend a local art fair or farmer\u2019s market, finding little treasures along the way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"207\" height=\"231\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/unnamed-27.jpg?resize=207%2C231&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-20592\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><em>Laurinda Goode<br><\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI love to travel and am fascinated by unique architecture and cultures.\u201d she continued. \u201cI\u2019m equally happy in a bustling city or on a tranquil beach. My personal art collection is a testament to my eclectic taste and interests.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Goode recently assumed the post directing the city&#8217;s downtown arts center, replacing Kim Brandt.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;\u201cWe had a handful of good candidates, some really good ones, but she stuck out,\u201d Mayor Dan Rickord said in introducing Goode at a recent city council meeting.\u201cI\u2019m so excited to start a new journey as the director of The Hive Art Gallery,\u201d Goode said. \u201cIt will be a new adventure for me and I look forward to meeting members of the community and regional artists \u2026 taking part in local events and hosting art-related activities and classes at the HIVE \u2026 helping it thrive!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Hive&#8217;s new hours are Tuesday through Thursday, 4 to 7 p.m., and Saturday, 9 to 11 a.m. (unless a private event is scheduled).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For art class and gallery inquiries, go to:&nbsp;<a href=\"mailto:lgoode@cityofdecatur.in.gov\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">lgoode@cityofdecatur.in.gov<\/a>&nbsp;or call (260) 301-3014<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The HIVE (Harness, Innovate, Visualize, Energize) came into existence along, with the 2nd St. Lofts, several years ago.
