{"id":20030,"date":"2024-09-23T14:56:37","date_gmt":"2024-09-23T18:56:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wzbd.com\/?p=20030"},"modified":"2024-09-23T14:56:39","modified_gmt":"2024-09-23T18:56:39","slug":"geneva-firm-tapped-for-decatur-project","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wzbd.com\/index.php\/2024\/09\/23\/geneva-firm-tapped-for-decatur-project\/","title":{"rendered":"Geneva firm tapped for Decatur project"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>By BOB SHRALUKA<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>WZBD.com<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A complete upgrade to the downtown Faurote Building and a look at riverfront development are continuing to move forward after action taken at its latest meeting by Decatur&#8217;s board of works and safety.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Acting on a recommendation by Adams County Economic Development Director Colton Bickel, the board approved Limberlost Construction&#8217;s bid of $504,712 to make the building suitable for the ACEDC to move its office there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It was the only bid received for the project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"560\" height=\"384\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/087562DC33D7455E89C30AD7D2E1F83B.jpg?resize=560%2C384&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-20031\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/087562DC33D7455E89C30AD7D2E1F83B.jpg?w=560&amp;ssl=1 560w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/087562DC33D7455E89C30AD7D2E1F83B.jpg?resize=300%2C206&amp;ssl=1 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 560px) 100vw, 560px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The Geneva firm also bid $46,277 to separate the small building in the rear, repair its roof, add a garage door, etc. The board decided to take some time to delve further into that situation before making a decision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The city owns the entire building and has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the ACEDC, which will eventually own the two-story structure and lease the small portion in the rear to the city, which plans to use it for much-needed storage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The city obtained a state READI grant of $290,000 to put toward renovation of the building and the ACEDC, through its own funds and some private donations, will pick up the tab for the rest of the cost.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The ACEDC office is currently located in the Adams County Service Complex at Third and Jefferson streets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>TIF TAB: The board also approved the hiring of the consulting firm of Crowe LLC to determine how much a TIF (Tax Increment Financing) designation would produce financially for a possible addition of riverfront housing off First St.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The fee will not exceed $5,000.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The request was made by City Attorney Anne Razo, who said the determination is needed to keep the possibility of riverfront development moving forward.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By BOB SHRALUKA WZBD.com A complete upgrade to the downtown Faurote Building and a look at riverfront development<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[5],"tags":[14,21],"class_list":["post-20030","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-news","tag-decatur","tag-news"],"jetpack_featured_media_url":"","jetpack_sharing_enabled":true,"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/wzbd.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/20030","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/wzbd.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/wzbd.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/wzbd.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/wzbd.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=20030"}],"version-history":[{"count":1,"href":"https:\/\/wzbd.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/20030\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":20032,"href":"https:\/\/wzbd.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/20030\/revisions\/20032"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/wzbd.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=20030"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/wzbd.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=20030"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/wzbd.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=20030"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
