It didn’t take Paul Morgan long to figure out what he wanted to be and where he wanted to go.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI was in my first musical when I was in fourth grade and I fell in love with being on that big stage,\u201d the Bellmont High junior will tell you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The young guy is, of course, very active on the BHS stage and he is also involved in the Creative Arts Council’s (CAC) theatre productions in Bluffton.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis is the theatre in Bluffton that I love,\u201d Paul says. \u201cI started with the summer intensive theatre camp when I was in sixth grade, but now I do musicals and plays there throughout the year.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Paul \u2013 \u201cPaulie\u201d as he is known to many \u2013 has had roles in several summer CAC musicals \u201cdirected by the amazing Ted Smith.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He’s been Scar in \u201cThe Lion King Jr.\u201d, Gaston in \u201cBeauty and the Beast\u201d, the Cowardly Lion in \u201cThe Wizard of Oz Jr.\u201d and Shrek in \u201cShrek Jr.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Morgan, 17, just got added good news: the CAC is going to do \u201cNewsies Jr.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI’m so excited for this one,\u201d he exclaims.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The \u201cJr.\u201d productions are a shorter version of the full musical.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis fall,\u201d Paul said, \u201cI will be doing my very first ‘play’ at CAC, ‘Tom Sawyer\u201d; I will be Injin Joe, I\u2019m excited for this new experience.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI have made so many friends at CAC, and have so many mentors there that teach me so much from acting, dancing, sets, and teamwork. It\u2019s is really a great place.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That’s not to say he isn’t active in productions at Bellmont.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis school year will be packed with the show choir Brave Generation, aka BG’s,\u201d Morgan noted, plus a spring musical, the BHS talent show, \u201cand we end the year with ‘Sparkle’, our last show choir show, a sendoff for the seniors.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He has already done several musicals at Bellmont, including \u201cMary Poppins\u201d, \u201cAnnie\u201d, the \u201cThe Little Mermaid\u201d (as Flounder), \u201cThe Addams Family\u201d (Lurch), \u201cSusical the Musical\u201d (the General), and \u201cLittle Women\u201d (Mr. Brooks).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI love my director, Jaime Macklin,\u201d the young guy says. \u201cShe is so talented herself and she passes all of her knowledge and experience down to all the kids.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cShe makes us work hard and not slack off. I appreciate her so much.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cLast winter I was in (a full production of) ‘A White Christmas’. I was in the ensemble and I loved it. Mrs. Macklin was in this one, too; it was such an honor doing a musical with her.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And just in case anyone thought Bellmont and Bluffton was as far as his quest takes him, this young entertainer has been involved in the Summit City Theatre in Fort Wayne.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI was part of the original cast of ‘A Christmas Carol’ as the Turkey Boy,\u201d Paulie noted. \u201cWhat a great experience that was. I\u2019m excited to do more work with Summit City; it\u2019s a great theatre, too! So much talent, I just love watching and learning from all of these people.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Morgan said he is always thankful for any part he lands. Every single part \u2013 whether it be ensemble, the lead or just being a tree \u2013 he will work hard. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cEvery role, every part is important in a musical\/ play\/show; you just always have to give it your all and you will shine on that big stage.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After high school, Paulie would like to go to a school for musical theatre and acting. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI also want to get certified with a trade so I will have steady income; I’m still thinking on what trade I want to do!.\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cBut my end game, my dream, is to be in musicals on Broadway and to be in the movies.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cNo dream is too big. My parents always tell me to love what you do, and do what you love, but just make sure you can support yourself.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cMy saying is, life is an adventure not a package tour.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Morgan points out his parents, Leon and Annie, are his biggest fans \u201cand support my dreams \u2026 I love them so much.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He also points to another couple of supporters, grandmas Diane Meyer and Judi Kruger.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And not to be forgotten, certainly, is younger brother Frank. \u201cHe’s 15 and my best friend,\u201d Paulie said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cFrank does a lot of musicals as well and is in show choir; he is so good. We make little short films at home and they are pretty funny. We both love to sing and we love to make people laugh.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Paulie is a big fan of movies and loves the horror films. So what could be better than working at Monster Pizza in Decatur?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
