{"id":19452,"date":"2024-09-09T06:34:35","date_gmt":"2024-09-09T10:34:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wzbd.com\/?p=19452"},"modified":"2024-09-09T06:34:37","modified_gmt":"2024-09-09T10:34:37","slug":"braves-beaten-by-4-team-in-nation-but-bounce-back-to-beat-zionsville-again","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wzbd.com\/index.php\/2024\/09\/09\/braves-beaten-by-4-team-in-nation-but-bounce-back-to-beat-zionsville-again\/","title":{"rendered":"Braves beaten by #4 team in nation, but bounce back to beat Zionsville again"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Playing top-notch competition to start the morning, the Bellmont Braves got a preview of a potential 4A regional opponent when they took on Hamilton Southeastern, last year&#8217;s state champions and the #4 team in the nation according to MaxPreps. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While they fell in straight sets, the Braves did not waiver in the second match of the day, downing a very good Zionsville team for the second straight weekend, 3-0. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><strong>Hamilton Southeastern 3 Bellmont 0 (25-13, 25-18, 25-17)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>MK Scheumann led all hitters in the HSE match with 13 kills, but it was the outstanding abilities of Lindsey Mangelson for HSE that made the difference. The Royals used 12 different players in each of the three sets to show off their depth against the Braves and they scored seven aces to exhibit some additional skill. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-audio\"><audio controls src=\"https:\/\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/07sepHSE3Bell0volleyball.mp3\"><\/audio><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><em>The Z Team wraps up a loss for the Braves against one of the very best teams in the nation. <\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Liz Bobay returned for the Braves and split the setting duties with Gracie Riggs. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"HS VB--Bellmont vs Hamilton Southeastern, 9\/7\/24\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/OY-mYO89SgI?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><strong>Bellmont 3 Zionsville 0 (25-23, 25-15, 30-28)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the second match, the familiarity of the two teams was evident throughout the contest as neither team was able to build a large lead in the first set and the final set went 30-28, ending in a sweep for the Braves. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Scheumann had an outstanding game, picking up 18 kills. She outhit Zionsville&#8217;s Josie Imes, who had 16. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>MK and Liz Bobay each had three kills. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kaylee Kolter had one of the best games of her freshman season with five blocks. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bobay took over more of the setting duties in game two, playing all three sets and leading the team with 21 assists. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Braves have just one match scheduled this week, but it is an important one.
